Using a traditional family recipe, Beulah’s Bakery dishes out caramel rolls with “ooey gooey” caramel sauce, walnuts, and cinnamon that make mouthwatering treats. Ronda Polleys founded Beulah’s Bakery (named after her grandmother) in 2019 to share the classic Midwestern treat that her family always enjoyed around the holidays. Located in Massachusetts, Beulah’s rolls are a unique dessert for the East Coast. And, individuals are already incorporating them into their own family traditions.
Sweet memories of receiving packages of the caramel rolls from her grandmother at Christmas inspired Ronda to continue baking them as an adult. Ronda and her dad decided to carry on her grandmother’s legacy and created “Beulah’s buns”. She has been baking these rolls for friends and family for more than 20 years. After her father passed away, Ronda wanted to share her family tradition with her community and launched Beulah’s Bakery.
Ronda currently runs Beulah’s Bakery out of a commercial kitchen space in Pembroke, Massachusetts. Baked in small batches to ensure freshness, quality, and consistency, Beulah’s buns can be shipped or delivered locally.
Whomever Ronda meets in the community cannot wait to taste Beulah’s buns. Upon establishing a business account at her local Costco, Ronda made a connection with someone who wanted to order Beulah’s rolls for their Halloween festivities. To share Beulah’s buns with as many folks as possible, Ronda launched a Halloween campaign on her Facebook business page.
Entrepreneurship is not a new venture for Ronda. After owning and running a mortgage company for three years, Ronda was equipped with some business skills to bring her bakery to fruition.
Along the way, Ronda participated in an EforAll accelerator program that helped her solidify her business goals. After graduating from the program, Ronda joined an eforever peer group. One of Ronda’s business goals for 2020 was to sell Beulah’s buns in specialty stores and farmers’ markets (and online). Ronda’s peers gave advice and encouragement when Ronda shared her goal.
“I got advice for nutritional labeling from one of my peers. It’s great to bounce ideas off of people and to keep things going. I haven’t been able to go into the specialty stores or the farmer’s markets like I thought was, but…I’m working on that right now.”
